This reserve was created to protect some 84,000 relict hectares of the Misiones Mountain Forest; a very particular habitat located 600 meters above sea level, higher than the rest of the forests in Misiones.
This ecosystem is distinctly different, with a dense bamboo understory favored by several bird species commonly seen in Iguazu or any of the other lowland forests. The forest along the Uruzú River is excellent for birds such as the Black-fronted Piping Guan, the Riverbank Warbler, and the Sharp-tailed Streamcreeper.
We can reach this reserve by a paved road in excellent condition, which makes it the perfect place to visit even on rainy days or difficult forecasts.
