Peru is one of the best countries in the world for birdwatching and nature photography. During this tour, we will travel from Cusco along the slopes of the Andean mountains to the cloud and Amazonian forests of the famous Manu National Park.

Peru is one of the best countries in the world for birdwatching and nature photography, with amazing biodiversity; in addition, its culture and the good energy of its people make it a unique destination for our activity.

During this tour, we'll travel from Cusco along the Andean foothills to the cloud forests and Amazonian rainforests of the renowned Manu National Park. The Manu Road, which follows the park's boundaries, is one of South America's best spots for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. We'll visit several gardens with feeders, waterers, and hides, providing excellent opportunities to see birds such as the magnificent Andean Cock-of-the-rock, King Vulture, Golden-headed Quetzal, various tanagers, and hummingbirds, including the Rufous-Crested Coquette, Wire-crested Thorntail, and Booted Racket-tail.

Day 1
Arrival in Cusco!
  • Welcome to Peru! We will be waiting for you at Cusco Airport to transfer you to the hotel; there will be time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude of the city, which is 3,400 m above sea level.
  • Overnight at Hotel San Agustín Internacional or similar.
Day 2
Cusco – Wayqecha Biological Station
  • Early in the morning we will leave the hotel and, after a good breakfast, begin our journey along the Manu Route through the Sacred Valley. We will make our first stop at a beautiful garden where we can observe various bird species, "The Sacred Garden." This observatory boasts a rich flora that attracts many bird species; it also has feeders and waterers, making it a special place for nature photography.
  • Overnight at Wayquecha Biological Station.
Day 3
Manu Route and arrival at the Cock-of-the-rock Lodge
  • We will start the day with a visit to the feeding stations near our lodge to observe and photograph Leymebamba Antpita and Red and White Antpita, two endemic Chululues. After breakfast, we will continue our journey towards the San Pedro area. The vegetation will become greener, denser, and taller as we enter the cloud forest. Various stops along the way will fill our day of adventures, and we will arrive at our next destination in the evening.
  • Overnight at Cock-of-the-rock Lodge
Day 4
Full Day Cock-of-the-rock Lodge
  • A full day of birdwatching on the trails and surrounding areas of the lodge. We will also visit the beautiful garden of Don Víctor and his family, the famous Manu Tanager Garden. Their efforts have yielded great results, as many species visit their garden. We will also visit the lek to observe and photograph one of the stars of this trip, the famous Andean Cock-of-the-rock.
  • Overnight at Cock-of-the-rock Lodge
Day 5 and 6
Manu Route and Manu Biological Station
  • We will continue our journey descending along the legendary Manu road where we will begin to observe species of the lowlands and secondary forest such as the Swallow Tanager or the Ornate Flycatcher among others. In the afternoon we will arrive at the small town of Pilcopata where we will tour the Manu Biological Station and stay there.
  • The reserve covers 6 hectares, has several feeding stations, trails and even a lagoon, making it an ideal environment for our activity; more than 300 species of birds are registered here.
  • We will also visit Inka Amazonia; this garden offers great opportunities to observe and photograph hummingbirds.
  • Overnight at the Manu Biological Station.
Day 7
Manu Biological Station - Cusco
  • After an excellent breakfast, we begin our return to Cusco, making stops along the way in search of the species that eluded us in the previous days. We will also stop at some strategic points to maximize the possibility of observing large birds of prey such as the Solitary Eagle and the Black and Chestnut Eagle.
  • Overnight at Hotel San Agustín Internacional or similar in Cusco.
Day 8
Transfer to Cusco airport
  • Transfer to Cusco airport for the return home, marking the end of the tour.
